Kadoorie Agricultural Research Center at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie organized a workshop on smart farming devices

One of the main objective of this project for (PTUK) involved in the application of precision agriculture that help Palestinian student, researchers and farmers for increase the accuracy and efficiency of agricultural input applications and to conduct researches on the economic and environmental feasibility of the precision farming technology that would promote this technology to be accepted and adopted by farmers

Kadoorie Agricultural Research Center at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie organized a workshop on smart farming devices, including weather monitoring devices, plant diseases and insects in the field, implemented by the center with LabTec for advanced Solutions, and the workshop targeted the staff of the College of Agriculture Science and Technology, the College of Applied Sciences, and the College of Engineering and Technology.

This workshop introduced in full details the modern smart systems for agriculture in  terms of smart weather and environmental monitoring stations, different types of  sensors for agriculture, meteorology and environment. Also, it covers virtual meteorological stations in addition to weather forecasting stations and their use in  reducing agricultural risks.  Moreover, this workshop covers in also the risks facing the agricultural sector in terms  of weather conditions, diseases and insects and how to monitor, measure, predict, control and reduce these risks. Modern methods of measuring the concentration of ammonium and ammonia in the soil were also discussed for the purposes of fertilization. The workshop also covered how to link all monitoring stations, sensors, pest and disease control systems in one a smart computerized system that performs the process of  measurement, monitoring, control and prediction, and how to give early warning to the decision makers in order to take preventive measures to reduce agricultural risks and reduce production costs. It is noteworthy that this workshop is held as part of a series of activities of the  Precision Agriculture Project in Palestine: Boosting Innovation in Education and Research of Precision Agriculture in Palestine for the Erasmus Program, which aims to enhance the capabilities of students and researchers in the field of precision agriculture in terms of the scientific concept, through the development of courses taught at the College of Agriculture Science and Technology, and  practical application in modern technology.

PTUK concerned in this project for establishing of digital agriculture in PTUK farm representative by application of precession agriculture in the university focusing on use of information technology tools such as sensors. This workshop introduced in full details the modern smart systems for agriculture in terms of smart weather and environmental monitoring stations, different types of sensors for agriculture, meteorology and environment.
